I was sharing with Ben and Aunt Katy about me reading my journals in “these times”.  It seems that during the “milking dairy cows” season- Larry and I decided (and it was accepted) to be a 4th couple to milk on week-ends. This in the 1981-82 journal.

If you recall, the 3 couples: Allen/Ruth; Frank/Catherine; Jim/Ardie alternated week-ends to be the milkers.  It says in the book - Larry and I took on a 4th spot, helping out with that chore.  Besides Larry and I doing it, it appears that sometimes I had some other helpers: Pat, Dad and Ben (yes, Ben you were there too!) The funny thing is - I don’t remember any of that.  Peter tells me that he remembers helping his Gramps at the barn. Mind you, he was only 2 or 3 at the time.

Larry and I went fishing today (5/16/20) so I took the journals along to see what else I could read.  It seems that I ended up milking for some months in 1983 in the mornings so the Dunlap boys could make it to school on time.  I do remember Sarah and I doing some summer milking when we were out of school during my sophomore/juniors years. I will continue to work my way through the journals.  You never know, there may be more history to follow.

Love to all
Stay healthy
