The Baker Homestead LLC is an effort to preserve a family farm. The
original homestead was granted to Louie Baker in July 1920 by the US
Department of the Interior. He "made good" on the homestead and with his
wife Clara, was able to purchase additional adjacent property. Their
children, Allan (wife Ruth), James (wife Ardie) and son-in-law Frank
(wife Catherine) formed Baker Brothers Logging and became
the owners and caretakers of the farm. The current surviving partners,
Frank and Catherine Dunlap, have set in motion a plan to pass the land
on to the next generation of 14 cousins. When Frank and Catherine pass,
the LLC will become functional. Until that time we are concerned that
all members educate themselves as best possible to be good stewards of
the land.
Our Mission: To
grow and harvest timber in a way that preserves the integrity of the
homestead and acknowledges the importance of family in the process.
